Mystic Maritime Consulting
Melissa Ryan is an expert marine consultant with a deep background in education, ocean science and exploration, and environmental policy.
Most recently, as Vice President of the Global Foundation for Ocean Exploration, she led a team of engineers who built deep ocean exploration technology, and filmmakers who shared ocean discoveries with the public in real time. Melissa directed all education and outreach efforts within the Foundation.
Previously, she spent a decade analyzing and promoting environmental policy for the Connecticut Council on Environmental Quality, and served as Education Specialist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office of Ocean Exploration, where she coordinated a national professional development program for educators in ocean science and exploration. In her work with the nonprofit Ocean Technology Foundation, she developed international ocean science education programs, writing curricula and teaching University-level courses while leading a multinational search for a historic shipwreck.
Her work encompasses clients in government, academia, nonprofits and the private sector, and she enjoys working with like-minded people who truly care about the planet.
